We sat down with Billie, the managing director of Aluvers, to discuss the Reservoir project in more detail.

How did the client get in touch?
Joel initially contacted us after researching premium pergola solutions online. He compared several companies and found that many offered pergolas with externally mounted downpipes, which he didn’t want visible in his backyard. He was looking for a high-quality outdoor living solution and wanted a company that could provide a custom design rather than an off-the-shelf product.
What was the design process like?
What was the design process like?
The design process was highly collaborative. We completed a site measure, discussed how the space would be used, and worked closely with Joel to create a solution that complemented his home while maximising functionality. To help Joel clearly visualise the final outcome, we also provided a detailed 3D render of the project. Throughout the process, we refined the design to ensure it suited both the aesthetics of the property and the practical requirements of the outdoor area, while also taking into account Joel’s plans to add more elements to his backyard in the future, ensuring the pergolas would integrate seamlessly with any upcoming modifications.

This project featured our custom Capri Motorised Louvre Pergola, which we found was the perfect fit for Joel's home. As one of the first projects to showcase our newly introduced Capri range, it perfectly demonstrates the premium design, strength and refined finishes that define this collection.

What unique challenges did the project present?
One of the key challenges was integrating the pergola with the existing home while ensuring effective stormwater management. The design needed to not only complement the architecture but also provide a practical drainage solution without compromising the clean, modern appearance.
How did you overcome these challenges?
How did you overcome these challenges?
The Capri model proved to be the ideal solution for Joel's project. Its integrated internal PVC drainage system allowed us to direct all rainwater neatly through the pergola posts and straight into the property's existing stormwater drainage. This provided a seamless finish with no exposed downpipes while ensuring efficient water management. Combined with detailed planning, accurate site measurements and close collaboration between our design, manufacturing and installation teams, we delivered a solution that was both visually striking and highly functional.
